Her Hair Rx for Veterans

Medical cranial prostheses for female veterans experiencing medically related hair loss.

Five Steps

How it works with the VA

01

Referral

Your VA Dermatology provider determines if a medical cranial prosthesis is appropriate and submits a consult to the VA Prosthetics & Sensory Aids Service requesting Her Hair Rx.

02

Consultation

Once we receive the VA request, we’ll contact you to schedule a comprehensive consultation via telehealth or in person. Your appointment includes scalp analysis, measurements, skin tone assessment, hair texture matching and prosthetic design.

03

Custom Treatment Plan

Based on your consultation, Her Hair Rx develops your customized cranial prosthetic recommendations and submits all required specifications and documentation to the VA Prosthetics Department.

04

VA Review & Authorization

The VA Prosthetics & Sensory Aids Service reviews the request and coordinates any required approvals or authorizations with your healthcare team before your prosthesis is approved.

05

Delivery & Ongoing Support

Once authorized, Her Hair Rx customizes your medical cranial prosthesis and provides continued education, fitting and scalp health support throughout your hair restoration journey.

A complimentary clinical scalp analysis

As part of our patient-centered approach to cranial prosthetic services, Her Hair Rx offers every Veteran a complimentary clinical scalp analysis. This assessment focuses on evaluating scalp health, identifying conditions that may impact hair retention and prosthetic wear, and providing individualized education to support healthy scalp tissue.

Because successful cranial prosthetic outcomes begin with a healthy scalp, this service reinforces our commitment to delivering comprehensive, medically focused care that extends beyond simply providing a prosthetic device.

The Restoration Technology

The Her Hair RX Restoration Trilogy is a deliberate three-step system designed to prepare, renew and seal wigs, extensions, bundles, closures and frontals.

Acid Wash, Fiber Soak and Sealing Oil

Step 1: Acid Wash prepares the hair fibers. Step 2: Fiber Soak delivers the core immersion treatment. Step 3: Sealing Oil completes the restoration ritual.

01
Step One · Preparation Treatment

Acid Wash

Restoration begins with a clean, receptive surface.

Hair fibers carry the residue of everything they have been through: styling product, minerals from water, oils from handling. Left in place, that residue sits between the fiber and everything applied afterwards.

Acid Wash is a preparation treatment. Its mild cleansing technology lifts that buildup away, while Citric Acid keeps the treatment on the acidic side of the pH scale. Hair fibers sit best in slightly acidic conditions. It is the range in which the outer surface of the strand lies flattest, feels smoothest and reflects the most light.

The result is an even, prepared surface, ready to receive Step Two.

02
Step Two · Immersion Restoration Treatment

Fiber Soak

This is the centre of the system.

Where the other two steps work across the surface, Fiber Soak works by immersion. The unit is submerged and the fibers are surrounded, every strand along its full length, including the lengths a hand-applied treatment rarely reaches.

Amodimethicone is drawn to the parts of the strand that need it most, settling more heavily where the surface is roughest and more lightly where it is already smooth. Panthenol is a humectant, which means it attracts and holds water, helping fibers feel supple rather than brittle. Polyquaternium technology forms an even, lightweight film along the strand so fibers glide past one another instead of catching.

Together they restore softness, improve slip, reduce fiber-to-fiber friction and make a unit noticeably easier to handle. It is the difference between fighting a comb and simply combing.

Step Three · Protective Finish

Sealing Oil

The final step protects the work of the first two.

Sealing Oil combines lightweight silicone technology with Golden Jojoba Oil. Applied through the lengths, it coats individual strands in a fine protective layer that reduces fiber-to-fiber friction, the everyday rubbing that dulls a unit and starts the tangling.

Jojoba is a liquid wax rather than a true oil, which is why it sits so lightly. It smooths without weight, adds shine without slickness, and leaves a finish that reads as polished rather than coated.

This layer is a finish, not a permanent change to the fiber. It is reapplied as part of the ritual, which is exactly how professional finishing is meant to work.

The Starting Point

Why detached hair asks for something different

Wigs, weaves, extensions, bundles, closures and frontals all share one thing in common. They are detached hair fibers.

While hair is attached to the scalp, the skin continuously supplies it with natural oils that keep each strand supple and help it move. Once a fiber is detached, that supply stops. From that moment on, everything the strand receives has to be given to it.

That single difference is why detached fibers ask for a different approach from products formulated for hair that is still growing. The Trilogy was designed around that reality from the beginning, rather than adapted to it afterwards.

The Difference

A restoration system, not a routine

Ordinary hair care is a routine. The Trilogy is a system.

It was developed using techniques inspired by professional wig and extension manufacturing, where fibers are treated in separate, deliberate stages rather than in a single pass. Each stage is formulated to make the next one possible, which is why the order matters and why no step is optional.

That sequence is what separates a restoration from a wash, and it is why the Trilogy is built for fibers that live away from the scalp.
